Closed Until Further Notice

What a Busy Day!
About 75 gallons of berries were picked on Wednesday and the ripe ones are all gone!
The blueberry patch is closed until further notice.

Is anyone here playing hooky from work?

We may be able to open again in a few days if birds don't get them as they ripen.
We'll post any reopening here!

Our blueberry season is short this year. The freeze in mid-May nipped those that were blooming at the time.

June Update

We are gearing up for 2009 season. Late frost took some of the later blooms and buds, but most appear to have survived! We have had excellent rain so the berries should be plump and healthy.

VA Tech graduate student, Nancy Adamson has been studying our pollinators this spring. We have seen some honey bees, lots of bumble bees, sweat bees, wasps, etc. We look forward to seeing her report.

We plan to open around July 1. Please check the blog or call to confirm picking conditions. We look forward to seeing you this season.

2008 Recap

2008 was a banner year for the Woodall Blueberry Farm. Over 1,600 gallons of blueberries were picked! The season was perfect with no late spring frost and ample rainfall at the perfect times. We are hoping that 2009 will be just as fruitful. Stay tuned!
